God Will Never Be Angry With You

May 26, 2011

In 1 Peter it says that your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion.  In the Bible it refers to the Lord as a lion.  So it refers to both the Lord and the devil as a lion but do you know what the difference is?

It only refers to the roar of the lion in reference to the devil but it refers to the Lord as a lion as a whole.  A lion is protective, bold, strong and actually very loving and caring for his own.  The roar of a lion is meant for intimidation.  If the Lord is a lion and 1 Peter says the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.  It actually means that the devil is trying to impersonate the Lord.  The Lord is a lion and the devil is acting like a lion only as much as just roaring.

A roar scares people but the roar itself does not harm people.  The devil uses it’s roaring capabilities to scare people into doing what he wants but it is very important to know that the devil is not a lion, he is just bullying people by his roar.  Let me say again it is not the roar that harms people but it is what can scare people.

Today’s verse is from Isaiah 54 where He swears He will not be angry with us.  This comes one day and one chapter after He tells us in Isaiah 53 what Christ had to suffer for us.  This tells us that God will never be angry with us because of what Christ has accomplished for us.  On the cross, God poured out all of his anger on the body of His son.  God did what He asked Abraham to do.  Have you ever thought of it that way?  God tested Abraham and because of his great faith He made him a great nation.  However God actually did what He asked Abraham to do.  He sacrificed His only son so He could never be angry with you again.

When Jesus was on the cross his final words were “It is finished.”  When something is finished you cannot add to it.  Our sins have already been punished on the cross, and because our God is holy and just He will not punish us for something that is already done.  God is not angry with you EVER, you need to get that straight in your mind.

Truth is you do not fail, truth is your Father just wants you to pick yourself up and say, “Where are those who condemn you?  I condemn you neither, go and sin no more.”  Do you think that is a one time thing He would say to you?  That conversation is an unlimited conversation that God will have with you every time you fall short.  God is not angry with you and when you fall short He will pick you up, dust you off and reassure that He does not find guilt in you and that you simply need to get back on the horse and try again.  That my friends is liberating!!!

“For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, so have I sworn that I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you.  For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but My kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you.   —   Isaiah 54:9-10

God will never be angry with us again because of what Christ has accomplished for us!
